“Afield” is an ongoing multi-disciplinary art project, based on multi-species ethnographic research in 2022 at four sites of human/animal encounter: reindeer and Sámi reindeer herders in Northern Lapland, alligators and cognitive science researchers, boar and wildlife researchers, and migratory birds and ringers at a ringing station. I took part, witnessed, and documented the interactions between the humans and animals, and am currently synthesizing them in drawings, paintings, poems, sculpture, and photographs. Finalized work forthcoming in the spring of 2024.
